Pastor's Greeting
About Pastor Marty
Pastor Marty has served at Savior Divine since 2004. Prior to his coming, he had served at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Maywood, IL, Trinity Lutheran Church in Runnemede, New Jersey, and as Interim Pastor at Faith Lutheran Church in Brookfield, IL.
He grew up in Westchester, IL, and felt the call to ministry while in high school. This calling led him to Concordia colleges in Ann Arbor, MI, and Fort Wayne, IN. After graduating from college, he entered Concordia Serminary in St. Louis and finished in the new group of what would become Christ Seminary - Seminex. He was ordained in the Lutheran Church in America, which would later merge into the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He did graduate work at McCormick Theological Seminary to earn the D. Min. degree.
He is passionate about holistic health, believing that our faith helps us to move toward achieving optimum well-being. The prayer for health and healing has become an important part of his ministry. He also is passionate about biblical learning for adults with an aim toward growth in discipleship and the use of technology for ministry.
In community work, he serves on the Board of Directors of the local Hills Chamber of Commerce, on the team for the Southwest Suburban CROP Hunger Walk, and has served on a task force at Stagg High School in Palos Hills.
In college he majored in musicology. He has enjoyed playing the clarinet and in his high school years played in the Chicago Youth Orchestra. He can be found playing the clarinet occasionally in the context of worship with pre-service music. He also enjoys an occasional round of golf, swimming, cycling, and the hobby of ham radio.
