Elsie's Food Pantry
Elsie's Pantry is open to people living in Palos Hills, Palos Park, Palos Heights, Hickory Hills, Willow Springs, Justice, Bridgeview and Palos Township. Admittance is also based on monthly income level. Elsie's Pantry is a joint ministry of Savior Divine Lutheran Church and Living Faith Community Church. People living outside these areas may come one time only. For more information about qualifications, please call Beth Heinrich, Director of the Pantry at 708-598-4435.
The pantry is open on Thursdays from 2-4 p.m. People living within the boundaries may come every week. The food is received via drive through pickup only. Each client will receive a prepackaged box of food.
In the past, the pantry has provided additional services. A nurse was present to provide free blood pressure checking once a month. SafeLink has also been present to provide free cell phones to those who qualify. The Pillars has been present occasionally and seeks to provide help to families with children 5 years and younger. The University of Illinois Extension came to provide recipes for making various foods. These services are no longer available during the pandemic.

Sources of food
Food is secured from the Chicago Food Depository as well as from local grocery stores donating items. Many individuals have donated food for this cause, including members of Savior Divine Lutheran Church and Living Faith Community Church. The community garden in Palos Hills has also donated fresh produce.

Produce delivered
A delivery of fresh produce came to the parking lot at church to be distributed during the food pantry hours.
Drop-off Box
Food may be donated to the pantry and placed in the box outside the church, located on the north driveway by the mailboxes.
