In such times we do find strength in God's word. This Sunday, being Reformation Sunday, brings us to Psalm 46, which will be the basis of my message. We have these words:
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Ps. 46:1
This particular psalm became the basis for Martin Luther's hymn, A Mighty Fortress Is Our God. The God who is invisible and invincible becomes a fortress for us in times of crises. We know that human structures have their limitations - even our military has it's vulnerability.
The psalmist would invite us to turn to God during the crises in our lives. We may not be finding recovery right away, yet with God we can find hope. You may want to read through the entire Psalm 46 in preparation for Sunday's worship. May God's blessing be upon your worship this Sunday.
