When we do look at the pages of scripture we may wonder how reliable they might be.  What does Scripture claim for itself?  This Sunday I want to focus on what claim we find inside the Bible as well as the purpose of the Bible as we use it today.  We have these words from this Sunday's reading:

"All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work."   2 Timothy 3:16-17

All scripture is inspired by God!  This means that the pages of the Bible were not just thoughts of human inspiration alone; but had their origin from God.  The Bible becomes the basis for teaching in church and to which we can use to correct errors in regard to faith and our way of living.  It would also mean that we have a certain reverence for reading the pages of this sacred book.

This book also becomes the gold standard for how we are to living so that we might be doing good works pleasing to God!  This book becomes our guide book for leading us on the right path.

So, I ask you:  How much time do you spend reading the Bible?  How much do you seek to become equipped for God's way of life?

I pray that you may reflect on this passage and what it means for your life.  You may also read the entire selection, which is 2 Timothy 3:14 - 4:5 in preparation for Sunday worship.
