"I waited patiently for the Lord;
he inclined to me and heard my cry.
He drew me up from the desolate pit,
out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
making my steps secure.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear,
and put their trust in the Lord." (Psalm 40:1-4)
This trust involved waiting in a patient manner. Yet, it paid off. God heard this person's plea for help and was delivered. In fact, the waiting resulted in being put in a very secure position and now had a new song to sing! It was all because of trust and waiting patiently.
You might want to read Psalm 40 in its entirety in order to grasp the dynamics at work in trusting the Lord. May God's blessing be upon your study of this psalm in preparation for Sunday's worship.
