"I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my whole being shall exult in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness,..." Is. 61:10
Christmas is the occasion for exchanging gifts. We also can be aware of the gifts we receive from God. Yes, think of getting "clothing" from God as a gift! God offered to Israel the 'garments of salvation and a 'robe of righteousness.' Despite their wrongdoing and lack of faithfulness to God that led to their time of exile, God brings them back and gives them new clothes.
Think of yourself as having this same clothing to wear. Jesus himself offers you as well a robe of righteousness, Your righteousness could not save you. It is only by fully taking on his righteousness that you can be seen favorably by God.
Amid the many gifts you might have received this Christmas, we can be thankful for this tremendous gift from God.
You may want to read the entire Scripture passage (which includes other gifts) in your preparation for Sunday's worship.
