My message on Sunday will focus on the apostle Paul's call for unity as he wrote to the Ephesians.
"I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." Eph. 4:1-3
The apostle would then go on to say the basis of this unity resides in the fact that there is one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all. Those readers could not but help to get the message! There is a unity already present, but it needs to be lived out.
Yes, in Christendom, there has been divisiveness with conflicts and the creation of many, many denominations. In view of this situation, I believe we still have the task to lead a life worthy of our calling. My message on Sunday will explore deeper how this can be achieved. In the meantime, I would ask you to reflect on these words of Scripture and may God's blessing be upon your meditation and your worship this Sunday.
